`Japanophile` and `Japanophobia`

おはようございます、皆さま。

안녕하세요........

Selamat  malam menuju pagi~ >w<

  1. JAPANOPHILE

"One who is terribly obssessed with Japan, and anything Japanese. He/she may even get sexual stimulation from anything remotely realtedd to Japan, or japanese culture."

Often bears similarities to a nerd a Japanophile is someone who :

    1. Thinks Japan is the greatest country/culture in the world.

    2. Tries to learn the japanese language simply by watching animes and repeats lines of it later on to attempt at impressing someone, they usually get the word wrong as well

    3. Has or would like to go out in cos play looking like a complete idiot dressed up as their favorite anime or RPG character

    4. Thinks every female in Japan is "innocent" or "shy"

    5. Is pale and overweight

    6. Spends most of there time online typically playing RPGs such as Ragnarok or Final Fantasy

    7. Rarely leaves the house

    8. Spends a good 18 hours each week watching animes and if they recently bought a series will watch the lot in one go

    9. Wants to go to Japan to live there forever and possibly marry an Asian woman, they seem to belive Japanese women are easy to pick up.

    10. Spends a good length of time on foreign sites and downloads animes from the internet whether there in English or not.

    11. Buys anime magazines to see what the latest "hot" anime is so they can go out and purchase it.

    12. Has or would like to purchase swords from Japan to try and improve there already stupid image

    13. Tries to hangout with other asians wheteher they are friends with them or not because "all asians are cool" they repeat this line often, and if they see an asian walking by them in the street they will either stare at them or talk about them for ages "Did you see that asian kid"

And this from wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanophile

"Japanophilia is an interest in, or love of, Japan and anything Japanese; its opposite is Japanophobia. One who has such an interest or love is aJapanophile. In Japanese, the term for Japanophile is "shinnichi" (親日?) from "親" "shin" (しん?), meaning pro- or for something, and "日" "nichi" (にち?), meaning "day" or "sun", but used here to signify "Japanese" as in the word for Japan "nihon" (日本?) or "sun base" with "本" "hon" (ほん?), meaning base, as in the expression "Land Of The Rising Sun".

The United States went through a similar period of Japanophilia starting in the 1980s, anticipated in the 1960s by the writing of Peter Drucker, who pointed to the "consensual decision-making" in Japanese corporations and celebrated Japanese corporate management techniques (even claiming credit for giving this system to the Japanese via his books and seminars). During that period, American students took Japanese language classes with the hope of doing business with Japan. This was also a decade in which numerous shows from Japan, such as Voltron, were being dubbed and shown on American television. Various American animated produced programs from the 1980s and 1990s were animated overseas in Japan. This phenomenon accelerated in the 1990s with shows like Power Ranger (based on popular Japanese TV program series Super Sentai), Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Pokemon and Digimon. There has since been considerable interest in Japanese Popular Culture across much of the Western World."

  2. JAPANOPHOBIA

"japanophobia, fear of japan, and fear of japanese culture, or the japanese"

A Japanophile (or Nipponophile) is an individual with a love for or interest in all Japanese things. Some notable Japanophiles include Lafcadio Hearn and William Adams, the latter of which personally knew the illustrious Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.

What Japanophilia does not indicate however is the merit of one's character; a truth that conflicts with the popular perception of Japanophiles as necessarily being a vocal minority of socially, intellectually, and hygienically inept youngsters. The term is often applied dubiously to these troubled youths by people who do not appear to distinguish between Japanophilia and infatuation with Japanese animation and/or other related niche hobbies and interests.
